Settings Menu

The Settings menu can be located by going to the Launch Menu, then Additional Options, and choosing: "Settings". Another way you will see this written is: LAUNCH >Additional Options> Settings. The Settings menu contains the following options:

Change Password: This is where you can change the password for the current user who is logged into the system. By default you are logged in as "root" (this is the username).

Programs to Autostart: This allows you to start programs automatically when your Linspire computer starts. When you click this link it will open a standard file-manager looking window with some files in it. There is a directory that says: "About Autostart". If you double-click and open this directory you will see a file that is named: "Click here to read about Autostart". This will explain how to add programs to open automatically.

Rename Computer: If you are on a network, your computer will have a name. This is how other computers on the network are able to connect to your machine. This option allows you to change the current name of your computer to something else.

User Manager: This is where you can add new users to your Linspire system. By default these is only one user on your system: "root". Do NOT delete this account! Even if you do not plan on running as root you must leave the root account on your system. To add a new user, click on the "Add" button at the top. Type in a username and click OK. On the next screen that comes up you can click the button that says "Set Password" to assign a password to this user.
